This photo was taken in August 2010. Four of us, including myself, were celebrating birthdays - hence me wearing a purple hat and red clothes**.

Birthday girls were - ME!, Francesca Frangipani, Princess Purple Pip and Claret Velvet.  The little girl in the picture is the great niece of Francesca Frangipani who was visiting with her Grandma from Germany! (a future red hatter??)

 The Queen's Trumpeter

The last two issues of the Queen's Trumpeter will very soon be on the website, under the heading "Trumpeter" !!  I intend to put all the issues on in the next week or so.  I do hope that those new red hatters that have not seen the QT will read and enjoy.  I will, slowly, put together a new issue soon.  Alternatively, if anyone wants to take it over, do please let me know.

WELCOME TO CRIMSON CRUMBLIES’ WEBSITE

We are members of the Red Hat Society - an international 'disorganisation' of women over the age of 50 who want to live life to the full and not fade into the background!

On other pages of the site, you will find photos of us all, upcoming events and other information.  I hope you enjoy .

I started the chapter in 2005 and mine was the first one in Essex.  My name's RedMel and I'm the Queen of the chapter. There's a photo of me below!!

Hello This is a test
The Red Hat Society was formed around 12 years ago in California by The Exalted Queen Mother, Sue Ellen Cooper, who had read the poem "Warning" by Jenny Joseph, a British poet, and thought it marvellous. It goes.....When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple with a red hat which does not go and doesn't suit me....... Sue Ellen purchased a red hat in a thrift shop for her friend Linda and it went from there really. The rest is "herstory"!!!
